Information used by the product

Meaning Cards uses your account email and authentication information to provide account access. The service stores the Cards, writing, media, Collections, Tags and profile information you add, together with settings such as visibility and your storage plan.

Account reports

When someone submits an account report, Meaning Cards may store the reported account and page context, the selected reason and explanation, an email address if the reporter voluntarily provides one, and a pseudonymous daily network identifier used for abuse and spam prevention. This reporting feature does not store raw IP addresses for that rate-limiting purpose. Reports are available to the Platform owner for review. A report is an allegation, not a finding.

What other people can see

Public Cards and your public site can be viewed by visitors. Unlisted Cards are omitted from public lists and search, but anyone with the link can view them. Private Cards require your signed-in account. These visibility controls are not end-to-end encryption.

Services used to operate Meaning Cards

The application uses Vercel for hosting, Supabase for authentication and application data, Cloudflare R2 for images and generated backups, and Bunny Stream for uploaded videos. Historical media may also use R2. Stripe handles the billing flows. Viewing embedded YouTube content involves YouTube.

Sign-in uses cookies to maintain your session. If you request a backup-ready email, the selected notification address is attached to that backup job and used by the transactional email service for its notification.

Retention and deletion

Subscription cancellation, payment recovery, storage grace, explicit Delete Account and suspension have different effects, described in the account lifecycle Terms. Data remains during an applicable billing grace period. Confirmed Delete Account closes the account immediately, with physical cleanup proceeding in the background. Permanent deletion removes account-owned content, media, profile, Site Address, settings, Collections and Tags. Cleanup happens in stages and can take longer when providers are unavailable or work must be retried; immediate closure is not instant erasure from every system.

Financial, billing and audit history is retained separately, including Stripe records and operational records of lifecycle actions and cleanup. Account deletion does not erase that history. Saved lifecycle-email payloads containing the customer email and Site Address are cleared after account cleanup completes.

Lifecycle notices use your account email and the transactional email service. The Platform owner receives one informational notice during over-limit grace containing account contact details, storage usage and the reason and dates. Sending records include confirmation times and email provider acceptance IDs. Provider acceptance does not prove inbox delivery or that you opened or read the message; deletion does not depend on email opens, clicks, a completed backup or owner approval.

Local Backup creates a copy of your Cards and available original media. Completed backups and their download links normally expire after 24 hours. Creating or accessing backups through your account requires permitted access, which ends immediately when Delete Account is accepted and can also be blocked by suspension or permanent cleanup. An already issued direct download link may remain usable until its own expiry or the archive is removed; do not rely on it after closure. Finish downloading and save your backup before confirming deletion. A downloaded or shared copy is separate from your account, and a download link may be forwarded.

Changing visibility or removing an account or Card cannot retrieve public copies, downloads or other copies held by third parties. Choose Private for content you do not want to publish or share by link.
