Using Meaning Cards
Meaning Cards is a web application for storing and organizing Cards containing writing and media. You can create an account with the Free plan and choose additional storage from Billing when you need it.
Keep your account credentials private. Only upload or share material you have the right to use, and consider the rights and privacy of other people represented in your content.
Copyright and intellectual property
Do not upload or share material that infringes another person’s copyright or other intellectual-property rights. Meaning Cards may remove or disable access to material when appropriate, including in response to copyright complaints or other credible information indicating infringement.
Meaning Cards has adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers. Whether termination is appropriate depends on the circumstances, including the nature and frequency of infringement.
Sharing your Cards
You choose a visibility setting for each Card. Public Cards appear on your personal site. Anyone with an Unlisted Card’s link can view it and pass the link on. Private Cards require your signed-in account. Changing a Card’s visibility does not remove copies someone may already have made.
Paid plans and account management
Paid storage plans are monthly subscriptions handled through Stripe. Review the selected plan and amount in Checkout before subscribing. Your account’s Billing page shows the available plan changes and cancellation options, and provides access to payment methods and invoices.
Current plan names, prices and storage limits are listed on the pricing section. Your account’s Billing page shows the options that apply to your account.
Subscription cancellation and account deletion
Cancelling a subscription at the end of its billing period keeps paid access until the subscription actually ends. It does not request account deletion. My Account shows the end date and available options to keep the subscription. A failed payment does not itself start a deletion timer: existing access and data are preserved while payment recovery remains in progress.
When a subscription ends, accounts with a complimentary plan keep that allowance and do not enter billing-related storage grace. Otherwise, an account within the Free storage allowance moves to Free and keeps its remaining content, profile, Site Address and settings. If cancellation or failed payment recovery leaves the account over the Free allowance, a storage grace period applies. Existing content and the public site remain available during grace, along with options to reduce storage, restore a qualifying paid plan or use Local Backup. Uploads cannot increase storage above the Free allowance.
The over-limit grace provides at least 30 days from successful sending of the first customer notice, with further warnings allowing at least 7 days and 1 day from their successful sending. My Account shows the current scheduled deletion date; delayed notices or processing can postpone it. Restoring a qualifying paid plan or reducing storage to the Free allowance ends this billing-related deletion process. Otherwise, automatic permanent deletion proceeds only after the required notices and final billing, storage and account-state checks. See Privacy: retention and deletion for sending records and cleanup timing.
Delete Account is a separate choice in My Account that requires the exact confirmation DELETE. Once accepted, the request is recorded and your account closes immediately: your public site becomes unavailable, and normal access, uploads, new purchases and account backup downloads are blocked across sessions. This applies to eligible Free, complimentary and paid accounts. There is no waiting period or option to cancel deletion. This cannot be undone.
We strongly recommend using Local Backup first. Finish downloading and save your backup before confirming deletion; downloading does not request or authorize deletion, and we do not verify that you saved a copy. The accepted request starts cancellation of recurring Stripe billing and background cleanup, without automatic refunds. External failures leave the account closed while work is retried. Deletion is not reported complete while required billing cancellation or provider cleanup remains unresolved. See Privacy for cleanup and retention details.
Platform suspension is separate from subscription cancellation and account deletion. It blocks normal account and public access while preserving data and billing. Suspension does not start, pause or reset a deletion timer. Permanent deletion is deferred while the account is suspended, but existing deadlines continue to run.
Storage and backups
Storage limits are shown in your account and in the plan catalog. Local Backup prepares a ZIP of your Card information and available original media. YouTube videos are represented by links. If an original cannot be retrieved, the backup includes a warning. Completed backups normally expire after 24 hours, subject to the account-access restrictions described in Privacy. Finish downloading before confirming Delete Account, or before a billing-grace deletion deadline, and keep independent copies of files that are important to you.
Your content and copies
You can edit your Cards and their visibility from your account. Local Backup creates a separate copy; deleting or changing content on Meaning Cards does not change backups you have already downloaded or copies held by other people.
